A Challenging Year: Managing with Fewer Nominations
The federal government has allocated just 4,000 BC PNP nominations for 2025, down from previous years. The year began with an already full pipeline of around 5,200 applications, leaving B.C. to make tough decisions about how best to allocate its limited nominations.
To address the mismatch between applications and available spots, the BC PNP will prioritize:

Waitlisting for International Post-Graduates (IPG)
Applications under the International Post-Graduate stream submitted between September 1, 2024, and January 7, 2025 will be placed on a waitlist. These will be considered only when additional nomination spaces become available.
No General or Priority ITAs Expected in 2025
Unlike previous years, BC PNP will not resume general or occupation-targeted Invitations to Apply (ITAs) this year. Instead, the program will issue a limited number of ITAs to candidates from the Skills Immigration registration pool who are assessed as having the highest economic impact potential in B.C. About 100 such candidates are expected to be nominated from a pool of more than 10,000 registrants.
The first ITAs for high-impact candidates are expected in early May, with specific selection criteria to be published during each draw.

ITAs will continue to be issued to Entrepreneur Immigration candidates throughout the year, maintaining a path for innovative business owners and investors to contribute to the provincial economy.

Effective immediately, the Health Authority stream will be restricted to applicants in frontline healthcare positions, including:

Early Childhood Education Focus Tightens
